Pathfinder Purpose

The purpose of the Pathfinder Ministry is to provide a key step in the educational program of the Seventh-day Adventist Church by providing the opportunity to take children out of their usual settings and into outdoor adventure. To develop a balanced physical, mental, social, and spiritual life. To teach skills that are meaningful and to give opportunities for development, discipline, leadership, and to care for those less fortunate. This program offers action, adventure, challenge and group activities that produce team spirit and loyalty to God and man.

Club News

From the Pagosa Springs Go-getters:

"We welcome a new member to our club, Liberty Thompson who earned a TLT Volunteer Award medal for serving 54 hours during CTS- quite possibly the most hours of any teen at the event! Liberty has also distinguished herself at last year's 14th Annual Navajo Knowledge Bowl where she competed as a 7th grade against High School & Middle School students from 3 states and won 1st place in Novice Reading! Liberty was then featured at The Gathering of Nations in our Adventist booth there in Albuquerque. She and her sister Indiana were also featured at Oshkosh demonstrating Navajo dances and led the Peruvian delegation in the International parade. This is one Pathfinder you will love to meet and have her repeat the Pledge of Allegiance in Navajo! Her sister Indiana is an Adventurer and is also a noted Navajo language speaker and dancer from her former school.

Of further interest, both girls were part of the program for the ground breaking of the new International Spaceport near Hatch, NM. As members of Sociedad de la Entrada, they reenact Don Juan Onate's 1598 Spanish settlement party that made it's way up the Rio Grande. At the beginning of the ground breaking ceremony, we walked into the program from behind mesquite some 300 yards away and participated with Governor Bill Richardson, the president of Virgin Galactica, and many other politicians and dignitaries."
