What can I do at GVR?
Leadership staff are responsible for developing, administering, directing, scheduling and leading all aspects of a safe and fun camp program. Leadership staff report directly to the summer camp director and have supervisory responsibility including the provision of oversight, direction and spiritual guidance for counselors, activity and support staff. In addition to the summer camp dates, Leadership Staff should plan to attend Leadership Camp at Glacier View Ranch from May 31 to June 4 (conveniently preceding Staff Week).
Counselors are responsible for the supervision of five to eight campers per week for six weeks of camp. Campers range in age from 8 to 17. Duties include providing uninterrupted supervision of campers, ensuring each camper's physical and emotional safety, assisting with and participating in activity classes, connecting with campers on an individual basis, and encouraging their faith in Jesus Christ.
General staff are vital to the success and smooth operation of camp as they perform duties that reinforce and enhance the counselor's ministry to the campers. Duties of the support staff at Glacier View Ranch include maintaining clean and functional facilities, providing nutritious and tasty meals for the staff and campers, producing high quality photographs and videos and providing office secretarial support.
Activity staff facilitate the wonder and adventure found at camp by implementing safe, instructional and fun activity sessions in areas from rock climbing and rappelling to horseback riding, canoeing, swimming, and mountain biking.
